Wayne Steinert, 78, of Concordia, passed away Tuesday, June 2 at Salina Regional Health Center. He was born August 26, 1936 in Great Bend, Kansas to Elmer and Elnora (Ochs) Steinert. Wayne was preceded in death by a brother, Gary (Ann) and a daughter-in-law, Hilary. He is survived by his wife, Nonnie; sons Kevin (Susan) of Concordia; K. Wayne of Spring, Texas; and daughter Kori (Ron) Beilman of Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Grandchildren include Kyle and Ryan Steinert, Zach Steinert and Zoe Westbrook, Alex and Sarah Beilman; great-grandchild LeighAnn Westbrook. Also surviving are brothers Stanley (Diana); Myron (Annie); and life-long fishing/hunting buddy Denis (Karen) Shumate.
Wayne was a career educator and passionately dedicated to providing positive experiences to all those he interacted with. During his 35 years as a public school administrator, he was a member of United School Administrators, served on the Council of School Superintendents, and the Teacher Certification Review Board. Wayne was also an active member of the Concordia First United Methodist Church.
Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 8 at Concordia First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Sunday, June 7 from 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Nutter Mortuary Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Concordia First United Methodist Church - Scholarship Fund.
