Sister Francis Alma Royer

Sister Francis Alma Royer died May 13, 2015, at Mount Joseph Senior Village in Concordia, KS. She was 89 years old and a Sister of St. Joseph for 72 years. She was born in Dryburg, MI on October 18, 1925 to Francis and Alma Savoie Royer, the third of eleven children, and was baptized Gertrude Mary. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Concordia, Kansas on September 5, 1942. On March 18, 1943. Margaret received the habit of the Sisters of St. Joseph and was given the name Sister Francis Alma. She pronounced first vows on March 19, 1944 and final vows on August 15, 1947.
Sister Francis Alma received a RN degree from Marymount College in 1952. She served in the healthcare field in ollyer, Salina, Seneca, Kansas in Chicago and Belvidere, Illinois, El Paso, Texas, Gary Indiana and in Las Cruces, New Mexico. In 2000 she retired to Medaille Center, Salina, Kansas and in 2003 she moved to the Motherhouse and then to Mt. Joseph Senior Village in 2009.
Sister Francis Alma was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters. She is survived by four brothers, Raymond, Wilfred, Arthur and Leo and three sisters, Janet Tanner, Theresa Gayari, and Gail Rayer. A Bible Vigil Service will be held May 15, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Nazareth Motherhood Chapel with Sister Mary Savoie as the eulogist. The Mass of Christian Burial will be May 16, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the Motherhouse Chapel with Father Jim Hoover presiding. The burial will be in the Nazareth Motherhouse Cemetery. Nutter Mortuary, 116 E. 6th St., Concordia, KS is in charge of arrangements.
