Ruby I. Cairns, 82 of Concordia, died May 3rd 2015 in Wichita. She was born August 10, 1932 to Peter and Katherine (McCarthey) Hiltgen in Kimeo, KS.
She was united in marriage to Lavern Cairns in September 1948 in Riley. The couple lived on a farm in Greenleaf while Ruby worked as a nurse's aide in Washington until the couple moved to Concordia in 1973 where she began working at Mt. Joseph nursing home in various duties until her retirement.
Pastimes included going to the coffee shop, trips to the casino and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ruby was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Concordia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lavern, infant daughter, Carol Ann, Grandson Russell Cairns, Brothers Marvin and Bill and Sister Evelyn.
Survivors include son, Rick and wife Marie, Concordia, Audrey and husband Larry Wurtz, Linn, Dean and wife Darice, Clifton, William and wife Michelle and Gary of Concordia. Brothers, Robert and wife Gloria of Linn, Cleo and wife Geneva of Mankato, Kenny and wife Karon of Frankfort and Brother in law D.T. McCutcheon, Rock Springs, WY, 16 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. at Nutter Mortuary Chapel, Friday, May 8, 2015 with Rev. Joe Koechner officiating. Burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, May 7, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to the American Legion Auxiliary of Concordia, KS.
