ROBERT L. "BOB" SHANKS
Robert L. "Bob" Shanks, age 80, of Concordia, Kan., passed away Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, Kan. Bob was born April 9, 1936, at Smith Center, Kan., the son of John and Hazel (Tharp) Luntsford.
On June 8, 1958, he married Phyllis Sallman at Concordia. He was a member of the National Guard. Bob was an auctioneer at S&S Auction (Sallman & Shanks) for many years. He was in the furniture business and later worked with Phyllis in their business, Images On Stone.
Surviving family: wife, Phyllis Shanks of the home; son, Gail Shanks and wife Kathy of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter, Cindy Detrixhe and husband Fred, rural Concordia, Kan.; six grandchildren: Steven and Hayley Shanks, Lawrence, Kan.; Amanda and Stephen Barber, Kansas City, Mo.; Jeremie and Kylee Eustice, Stockton, Kan.; Jason Eustice, Melissa Crump, Sarah Eustice, all of Concordia, Kan. Fifteen great-grandchildren; mother-in-law and husband, Edith & Lew Linden, Concordia, Kan.; Stepsister, Mattie Hemry, Lyons, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Hubert Shanks and John and Zella Luntsford.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Nutter Mortuary with Pastor David Redmond officiating. Visitation will be at Nutter Mortuary on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, from 11 a.m-8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Burial will follow the funeral at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Norway, Kan.
