On Sunday, January 30, 2022, Robert A Duggan, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away at the age of 92.
Robert was born April 2, 1929, in Chicago, IL to Raymond and Ruth Duggan. "Bob" graduated from Southeast High School in Kansas City, Mo in 1947. Following graduation, Bob enlisted in the Marine Corp. He served the USA for 5 years and took part in the Korean War conflict. Afterwards, he attended and graduated from Kansas University with a Journalism degree.
He married Charleen "Shy" Mae Shriver October 11, 1953 in Concordia, KS. This union brought three daughters into the family: Kathleen, Sharon and Diane.
While living in Emporia, Bob worked at KVOE as a news anchor, and he continued this career path after moving to Salina, KS working for KSAL and KINA. Eventually, his career path led him to J. H. Shears & Sons from which he retired.
Bob was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Salina, KS where for many years alongside his wife, where he served by offering communion to the homebound, teaching adult classes, bringing food and comfort to the homeless and assisting with the Angel Tree program. Bob also taught a Bible Study class for many years at the Ellsworth Correctional Facility Spiritual Life Center.
Throughout his 45 years living in Salina, Bob continued serving the community by becoming a Reserve Officer and Transport Marshall for the Police Department, teaching CPR classes at the Red Cross and continuing his lifetime membership with the Masons. Also, alongside his wife, Shy, he danced with the Salina Twirlers.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Charleen, father, Raymond, mother, Ruth, and brother, Ray.
Bob is survived by his three daughters: Kathleen Short and husband, Marshall, Larkspur, CO; Sharon Jury and husband, Jim, Wichita, KS; Diane Chapas and husband Terry, Wichita, KS; grandchildren: Lauren Tatlock and husband, Lee; Robert Short and wife Sarah, Nicholas Short, Whitney Klaas and husband, Justin, Sarah Stearns and husband, Caleb, Nikolas and Eleni Chapas; great grandchildren, Hudson and Brightyn Short, Elliott and Everett Tatlock, Lynnette Klaas, and Parker Stearns.
Funeral services will take place Saturday, February, 5, 2022 at 1:00pm at Nutter Mortuary in Concordia, KS. Graveside ceremony will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery.
