Richard Jasper Christianson, age 81, of Concordia, Kan., died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at Mount Joseph Senior Village.
He was born July 7, 1933, to Clarence and Thelma Christianson, growing up on the family farm. In 1956, he married Jeanette Carrier, who preceded him in death. To this union were born three sons: Terry, Glen, Timothy, and three daughters: Dianna, Anita and Angela.
Richard was the second of 10 children: Bethine (deceased), Larry (deceased); the twins, Robert and Roberta, Paulette, Albert; Reginald (deceased); Karen; and Kevin (deceased).
Richard had many vocations in life. He was a mail carrier, a semi driver and later had his own air conditioning business. His work took him to Grand Island, Neb., where he managed the maintenance at Millard Cold Storage Warehouse. Later in life, he married Edna Hartsock. She survives. Wherever he was, he was always lending a hand and always helping others.
The most important event in his life was when he listened to the Gospel and made his choice to serve the Lord. He was faithful to that choice until death. He leaves family, and a host of friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at Nutter Mortuary Chapel. Visitation is Friday from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m., with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m.
Memorials may be given to Mount Joseph Senior Village or Meadowlark Hospice, who offered excellent care to Richard.
