Richard L Bergstrom Jr, 65, passed away Friday January 10th 2020 at his brothers’ home in Concordia, Kansas. He was born November 4th, 1954, in Concordia, Kansas to Richard (Swede) & Doris Bergstrom. Richard graduated from Winnetonka High School of Kansas City, Missouri in May 1972. Richard joined the Air Force right out of High School and served from 1972-1973. He was a Parachute Rigger while serving and was honorable discharged. Richard held several jobs in his life time and was a jack of all trades. He worked for Republic County Highway Department from 2002-2013, Cloud Country Highway Department from 2013-2019 when he retired.
One of Richards favorite things to do in life was race. He drove everything from Drag cars, to Dwarf cars, to Micro Sprints. Richard has been a member of Jayhusker Racing since 2010.
Richard was survived by his two children Troy (Nancy) Riley of Perry, Ks, Cheryl (Justin) Irvin of Perry, Ks. He has seven grandchildren; Gage (Bree) of Clifton, Ks, Sicilia (Ireland), Erin (Michael), Hunter and Carson of Perry, Ks., Kaitlen Riley, Concordia, KS.,and Devonn Mae Riley, Perry, KS. Three great grandchildren; Kloie, Penelope, and Natalie. Richards Mother Doris Bergstrom of Gardner, Ks, and siblings Phyllis Bergstrom of Gardner, Ks, Ron (Jodi) Bersgstrom of Concordia, Ks, Randy (Cathy) Bergstrom of Bonner Springs, Ks, Patty Bergstrom of Gardner, Ks, and several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his father Richard (Swede) Bergstrom Sr., Sister Peggy Bergstrom, and granddaughter Hollie.
Memorial Gathering / Visitation will be Friday January 17, 2020 from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Nutter Mortuary.
Family inurnment at a later date in Clyde.
