Phyllis Ione Gould was born on October 17, 1929, and passed away at her home on Saturday, February 16, 2013. She was born on the original Christensen family homestead in Southern Republic County, Kansas. She was the daughter of W.L. (Roy) Gile and Julia Holgerson Gile.

Phyllis attended district #48 grade school and Norway schools. Her family moved from Norway to Concordia in 1944. She graduated from Concordia High School in 1948.

Phyllis married her high school sweetheart, Jack Gould on March 26, 1949. They spent their entire married life in Concordia, Kansas. Her husband Jack, of the home, and their four sons, James and daughter-in-law, Anne of Salina, Richard of Republic, Robert of Concordia, Lee and daughter-in-law Debbie, of Salina, KS, survive her. Jack and Phyllis also have one grandson, Jared Gould, and his wife Kelly of Waco, Texas and one step-grand daughter, Catherine Tobin Istas and her husband Chad of San Diego, California.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws, Orrin and Hazel Gould, her brother Glenn Gile, sister, Jean Heisley, and a niece, Karen Kempton; She is survived by her sisters Aileen Denning, Beth Whitney, Marie Nelson, Joan Meili, Louise Kempton, Trudy Heide, Janet Schrader, Martha Gebhart and one brother, Perry Gile as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Phyllis enjoyed her life as a wife, mother, and homemaker. She also helped her husband operate the Gould Implement business. She was a lifelong member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and was president of the UMW. She was active in several women's clubs and organizations. Phyllis always enjoyed her family, friends, church, and gardening.
We will miss her warm smile, kind generosity, and her adventuresome spirit.

Memorials may go to the historic Danish Saron Baptist Church of rural Jamestown, Kansas.

Visitation will be at the Nutter Funeral Home in Concordia on Sunday, February 24th from one to eight p.m. Family will be at the visitation from seven to eight p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Concordia on Monday, February 25th at 10:30 a.m. There will be no graveside service.
