Jack Gould was born on April 30, 1928, in Concordia, Kansas and passed quietly in his home on Tuesday, December 29, 2015. He was the son of Orrin and Hazel Wagner Gould. Jack graduated Concordia High School in 1946, and served in the United States Marines on the USS Springfield as a military policeman. Following his time in the service he returned to Concordia where he married Phyllis Gile on March 26th, 1949. The Gould's spent their entire married life in Concordia. Jack returned to work at the family implement business until his retirement in 1998.
Jack is survived by four sons, James Gould (Anne) of Coronado, CA, Richard of Republic, KS, Robert of Concordia, and Lee (Debbie) of Salina, KS. He is also survived by his grandson Jared Gould (Kelly) of Waco, TX and his step-grand daughter Catharine Tobin (Chad Istas) of Coronado, CA. In addition, Jack is also survived by his brother Harold Gould of Eugene, Oregon and his niece Cindy. He is survived by sister-in-laws Beth Whitney, Joan Meili, Louise Kempton, Gertrude Heide (Ed), Janet Shrader, Martha Gephart (Jack), brother-in-law Perry Gile (Margaret) and many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Orrin and Hazel Gould, his wife Phyllis, and her parents Roy and Julia Gile. He was also preceded in death by one nephew,
Mike Gould.
Jack will be remembered as a loving father, husband and loyal friend. He was an honest businessman who loved KU basketball and going to coffee with friends.
He loved animals and had a passion for cars. In later years he and his wife enjoyed traveling to casinos. In lieu of flowers, the family asks any memorials be given to the O'Connor Animal Shelter in Concordia, KS to benefit animals in need.
Visitation will be at the Nutter Funeral Home in Concordia, Kansas on Sunday, January 3rd, from 1:00 - 8:00 PM. Family will be present from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
Graveside services will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Concordia on January 4th, at 2:00 PM, with military honor guard.
