Eugene E. Leon

Eugene E. (Gene) Leon, age 89, died at his home in Concordia, KS on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. He was born May 20, 1928 in McPherson, KS to John Arthur Leon and Ruth Lorinda (Lundberg). He served in the U.S. Navy immediately following high school graduation. After college he spent his career teaching biological sciences spanning 37 years. His hobbies included family gathering, bird watching and woodworking. His activities included his church, Boy Scouts, the American Legion, the Masonic order and NWTF. Survivors included his wife of 67 years Betty Jean Leon, sons Kelly (Rebecca). Salina, KS and Stuart (Deanna), Phoenix, Arizona and daughter-in law Karen Boswell (Mark), Topeka, and brother Clinton Leon of Lawrence, KS; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by his parents and son Brice.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, June 10th at the Presbyterian Church, Concordia, at 10:00 A.M.
Visitation will be at Nutter Funeral Home 12:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday June 9th with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Memorials to be made to First Presbyterian Church or Meadow Lark Hospice.
