Concordia – Donna Collins Dejmal, 84, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012. She was born Jan. 19, 1928, to Harry and Gertrude Nelson Parrish from Delphos. She graduated from Delphos High School in 1945.
Donna graduated from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. She practiced as a registered nurse for more than 40 years. She began a long career in public health in 1960, serving the Cloud County Health Department as a staff nurse for eight years and as administrator from 1968-1988.
On Jan. 20, 1949, she was united in marriage to Eldon Collins, of Concordia. The couple lived in Concordia until his death in 1995. Two children were born to this union: Steve and Annette.
Donna married Jimmy Dejmal, from Barka, on March 20, 1998. They loved traveling and attending local women’s basketball games.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Dejmal, of Belleville; her children, Steve Collins (Helen), Annette Schoen (Rod); step-children Nancy Dejmal; Susan Borth (Patrick); five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, Brian Collins (Erin), Allison Schoen (Adrian) and L’Wren; Meagan and Condor Borth; brother, Lowell Parrish (Shirley); and sister, DeAnn Brown (Bob).
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at First United Methodist Church, Concordia.
Arrangements are being handled by Nutter Mortuary, Concordia, KS.
