Denny Lynn Taylor passed away on June 29, 2021.  Denny was born on March 20, 1948 to Guy and Cynthia Taylor on the family farm southwest of Clearwater, Nebraska.  Denny attended Neligh High School until he enlisted in the U.S. Army the day after his 17th birthday.  Denny completed Basic Training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri in 1965.  He proudly served for 13 years and completed two tours of duty in Germany and one tour in Korea.  He was stationed at several military posts including Ft. Riley, KS and Ft. Hood, TX.  He separated from the Army with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Denny was able to complete his GED while in the Army and received his Associates Degree from Austin Community College and several years later received his BA in Organizational Management from Concordia College in Seward, NE.

Denny married Ruth Egland in 1968 and two sons were born from that marriage, Tim and Joe.  In 1995, Denny married the love of his life Patricia (Eggli) Runyan.  After residing in Columbus, NE for many years they moved to Oregon in 2009 after Denny retired.  In 2011 they moved to Granbury, Texas before finally settling in Concordia in 2013.

Denny loved collecting and shooting firearms, talking about cars, and racing vintage race cars.  He had raced a vintage 1932 Chevy race car for several years in Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota.  Denny had served as president of VFW Post 6184 in Eagle Point, OR and was a lifetime member of Post 588 in Concordia, KS.  He also volunteered his time at the Cloud County Historical Society Museum as well as the Camp Concordia POW Camp Museum.  You also saw Denny around town talking to all of his friends.

Denny is survived by his wife, Patricia Taylor, Concordia, two sons Tim (Stephanie) Taylor, Denison, TX, and Joe (Kris) Taylor, Tecumseh, KS, four grandsons Grayson, Brighton, Walker, and Winston, granddaughter Micollette, and one great-granddaughter Kensington Taylor.

Denny is preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Cynthia Taylor, Brothers Boyd and Gary, and Sisters Elaine Primus and Lela Grey.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Nutter Mortuary from 5:00pm – 7:00pm.

Funeral Services will be Friday, July 2nd, 2021 at 10:30 at Fellowship Christian Church, Concordia, KS.

Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, KS.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Camp Concordia POW Camp Museum.
