Denise Ishler

Denise Marie Leggett Ishler of Jamestown, Kansas, went to be with our Lord Friday, May 26, 2017.

Born April 5, 1964, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, she was adopted at birth by Ronald and Janet Bougher of that city. After the death of her father, she lived in Mound Valley, Kansas, with her mother, sisters, half-brother and step-father, Tom Holland. Following the death of her mother, she lived for two years in Altoona with her aunt, Mary Moloney Newkirk, and uncle, Ted Newkirk, before being adopted in 1977 by Ashley and Rebecca Leggett of Boalsburg, Pennsylvania.

Denise graduated from State College Area High School in 1983. Later that same year she married John

William Ishler, with whom she has four children. For the last two decades of her life she lived in Jamestown, Kansas as she fulfilled her dream of seeing the United States by driving trucks long distance for Holland and other companies. Her driving life was ended in 1998 by an accident with a train that left her disabled. Because she was an ardent crocheter, her children, grandsons, parents, sisters, nieces and nephews are all kept warm by blankets she lovingly made for them. The heads of numerous children undergoing cancer treatment have been warmed by her caps.

Denise is survived by her parents, Ashley and Rebecca Leggett, her sons Stephen, Timothy, and Kristopher, daughter Tiffany, and their Father John, grandsons Dakotah and Jayden, sisters Rhonda Butler, Gerri Butler, Janet Butler, and Desiree Evans, half-brother James Holland, stepfather Tom Holland, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and her soul mate, Henry DeLong. She will by missed by her dogs Junior, Candy, Abby, Bailey, Bear, and Brutus.

At some time in the near future a memorial service will by held in Boalsburg.
